Gletscher vs. Fluss: Erosionskräfte im Kaukasus (Georgien) @Melanie Kranz Arbeitsgruppe Geomorphologie und Georisiken Die Arbeitsgruppe Geomorphologie und Georisiken konzentriert sich auf die Entwicklung der Erdoberfläche im Quartär (d.h. in den letzten etwa 2,6 Millionen Jahren). Ziel der AG ist es, das Zusammenspiel zwischen Transport-, Verwitterungs- und Erosionsprozessen sowie den klimatischen und tektonischen Faktoren in Sediment- und Landschaftssystemen besser zu verstehen, um ihre zukünftige Entwicklung besser abschätzen zu können. Wir nutzen eine Kombination aus Feld-, Labor- und numerischen Methoden und verfolgen einen interdisziplinären Ansatz, um die Entwicklung unserer Landschaften besser zu verstehen. Unser Verständnis von Landschaftsänderungen und den zugrundeliegenden Prozessen hängt in hohem Maße von einer robusten Chronologie ab. Aus diesem Grund liegt ein methodischer Schwerpunkt der Arbeitsgruppe auf der Anwendung und Entwicklung geo- und thermochronologischer Verfahren, insbesondere der Elektronenspinresonanz (ESR)- und Lumineszenz-Datierungstechniken. Mit diesen Methoden können wichtige Einblicke in den zeitlichen Ablauf und das Tempo von Landschaftsentwicklungen sowie der damit zusammenhängenden Georisiken gewonnen werden.
