60 Years RUB

Almost exactly 60 years ago, on 30 June 1965, the Ruhr University was officially opened as the first university in the Ruhr area with a festive ceremony at the Schauspielhaus Bochum theatre. A lot has happened since then and the motto of the current anniversary exhibition in the university administration sums it up perfectly: ‘Built to change since 1965’.

While the exhibition on the history and development of the RUB was on display in the administration building, there was a colourful atmosphere outside on the Nordforum. Numerous student councils and the AStA had set up information and participation stands, inviting visitors to linger, exchange ideas and discover new things.

The Geosciences Student Council also participated with their own booth. With creativity and humour, they sold homemade dinosaur soaps. At the same time, the Student Council took the opportunity to represent their field and provide interested visitors with insights into the exciting topics of geosciences.

The anniversary celebration was a successful day that presented RUB as a lively, diverse and constantly changing university - in line with its founding spirit.
